A lifelong resident of Allentown, PA., Joe graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degree.
Soon after graduation, he was called to active duty as a Captain in the US Army Medical Service Corps where he
served as Assistant Chief, Optometry Clinic at Letterman General Hospital on
Presidio San Francisco, California. Prior to discharge, he was awarded the
Army Commendation Medal.
He then returned to Allentown where he maintained a private optometric practice
for 38 years. During this time, he served on several committees for the
Pennsylvania Optometric Association and was elected POA President in 1979. He
also served on several committees for the American Optometric Association.
Joe also served as a Professional Member of the Corporation of HighMark/PA Blue
Shield. During his tenure, he served on the Medicare Medical Advisory Committee
of HGS - HighMark's Government Service subsidiary.
He and his family have been summer visitors to Ocean City for many years. He
became a full time resident in 2004. You can often find him riding his bicycle
or enjoying the beach with his wife, his two children and his five
grandchildren.
